Who We Are
Founded in 1969 by local residents and clergy, the Southwest Community Enrichment Center (SCEC)
is a non-profit, community-based human service organization that provides a broad range of services to the
residents of the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia.
Our philosophy of service emphasizes both the
self-worth of each individual, and the identification and
coordination of community resources to address community issues.
Recognizing the importance of community involvement, a majority
of SCEC's staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers are
local residents. Our programs operate out of three row houses nestled in the
community and provide
programs and services for adults, families, children and senior citizens.
Mission
Our mission is to enhance the well being of each child and adult served. We are dedicated to uplifting the quality of life through education, employment opportunities, health and cultural enrichment in the community.
