ABOUT

Founded in 1969 by local residents and clergy, the Southwest Community Enrichment Center (SCEC) is a not-for-profit, community-based human service organization that provides a broad range of services to the residents of the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia. We are dedicated to upraising the quality of life, education and employment opportunities, health, and cultural enrichment in the community.

Our mission is to enhance the well being of each child and adult served, and our philosophy of service emphasizes both the self-worth of each individual and the identification and coordination of community resources to address community issues. Recognizing the importance of community involvement, a majority of SCEC’s staff, Board of Directors, Advisory Board and volunteers are local residents.

Our programs operate out of four row houses nestled in the community and provide programs and services for adults, families, children and senior citizens.
